Powerful New Software

July 27, 2010
New power to visualize FM upgrade potential.

Skywaves is completing the latest version (4.0) of its in-house FM allocation software.

The new version is significantly more powerful at performing some of the core business objectives of Skywaves:

  • translator opportunities for AM stations
  • upgrades for commercial FM stations
  • upgrades for NC/E stations below 92 MHz
  • international allocations

The new software is fed by dedicated database servers, and runs on high-capacity workstations that scan the entire FM band for upgrade opportunites across a region in a matter of seconds.

This results in a four-dimensional view of the spectrum:

  • Latitude
  • Longitude
  • Channel / Frequency
  • Class of Station

We can select a location and Class and "run the movie" of the entire FM spectrum for that Class in the surrounding region.

The Beta 4 version of the software has already identified a large number of previously unknown upgrade opportunities for existing clients.

The software supports the primary mission of Skywaves, which is to provide outstanding resources to the broadcasting community on a consulting basis. It is not currently available for purchase or licensing.
